Press Release Body = ( EMAILWIRE.COM, February 12, 2006 ) Brooklyn, NY - The debut CD by Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY band Retrospectro hits the streets February 21st, 2006. The band has also implemented a college radio promo campaign with the release through Space380.
Retrospectro is not your run of the mill pop-rock-punk outfit. They\'re eclectic without making an annoying habit of it. Every song still has a unique Retrospectro feel to it. They have taken punk and skillfully blended it with garage rock, intricate guitar, and some groovy pop sensibilities. Their beautifully melodic presence is mischieviously shrouded by a thin sheet of grit which is quite fitting.
Retrospectro is a Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY based band located in a section of the city where there is an indie explosion of new bands. Interpol, tv on the radio, the yeah yeah yeahs, and Norah Jones are just a few of many new acts emerging from this cool new hip area of New York. Retrospectro\'s sound is original yet commericial, creative and very addictive. A sort of Dylan and Lou Reed-type vocal with a creative or psychedelic alternative sound featuring five band members. Lead singer/songwriter/guitarist Nestor Cora founded the band with the help of Danielle Guillet (tambourine, go-go dancer) while both worked as licensed massage therapists in the Wall Street area of Manhattan. Additional members include Brian Ludzig (drums), Kevin Brownstein (bass guitar), and Len Fliegel (guitar). After six months of intense rehearsals in a little soundproof room at Nestor\'s place, Retrospectro\'s first show was secured for a Saturday night at the popular club The Delancey, a coveted time slot in any NYC bar. The event brought about 40 people, all who reacted extremely enthusiastically. And that became the turning point in Retrospectro\'s music career. The quintet had finally become a real working band.
Since that time, Retrospectro has performed at The Trash Bar in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn where the band was formed. Recently, the band played the infamous CBGB\'s club in Manhattan. Retrospectro presents a new sound of rock and roll so infectious you can\'t just listen to one song. You will find versatility with every song at their shows and on their first CD released by Rainy Day Records entitled "Anodyne". "Anodyne" is already digitally distributed through IODA located in San Francisco and is also available on itunes, napster, emusic, and most digital download services.
